Child unharmed after crash between vehicle and cement truck in Gravenhurst

Lack of injuries to child due to properly installed child car seat, say OPP

Gravenhurst firefighters used the jaws of life to extricate the occupants of a passenger vehicle including a child following a collision with a cement truck.

It happened just before 11 Wednesday morning on Bethune Drive near Muskoka Road South in Gravenhurst.

OPP say the child was unharmed, thanks to a properly installed child car seat. The driver of the vehicle was airlifted to a Toronto hospital and the passengers by ambulance to a local hospital, both with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the cement truck was uninjured.

Highway 11 northbound off-ramp to Gravenhurst at Muskoka Road 169 along with a section of Bethune Drive near Muskoka Road South are closed for the investigation.

Anyone with information or dash camera footage that may have captured the event are asked to please call Bracebridge OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
