Child Porn Charges Laid in Oro Medonte

Computer Seized During Search

An Oro Medonte man has been charged after police claim to have found a computer contaminated with child sexual abuse material.

The OPP say a lengthy online investigation lead to a search warrant in Oro Medonte Monday, where a computer was seized. That device was said to have been filled with incriminating material.

A 37-year-old man has been charged with Possession Of, and Making Available Child Pornography. He was expected at a bail hearing in Barrie on Monday.

From the OPP: “It is important to remember that there is no such thing as “just looking” when it comes to child sexual exploitation. The children in these images and videos are real children who are being sexually abused. Even those who claim they are simply viewing these images are participating in the cycle of abuse of real children.

Child sexual abuse begins offline in homes and in our communities. Survivors of these crimes often say that they live in fear of being recognized by the individuals around the world that collect and share images of their abuse.
