Christmas Cheer Still Feeling The Pinch Despite Pair Of Radio Station Donations
Festive Charity Hasn't Met its $250,000 Goal As Time Wears Down
A pair of radio stations are doing their part in making sure Christmas Cheer has enough to go around, now it’s your turn.
Representatives from Christmas Cheer paid a visit to the morning show hosts of Rock 95 and 107.5 Kool FM in Barrie on Friday morning, to not only update on the festive charity’s progress, but also be surprised by a pair of cheques.
Rock 95’s Craig & Cat, along with Dale from 107.5 Kool FM, presented the pair of $10,000 cheques, bringing Christmas Cheer that much closer to its fundraising goal. Christmas Cheer’s Ian Hocking says the money has a long way to go “This year we have about 1,600 families that we should be helping; that’s about 4,500 local people. The fundraising is going well, and people have been generous, but unfortunately we’re not near our target. Our target was $250,000 this year, and right now we’re just under the $200,000 mark.”
The charity said as of Friday morning, it was still about $40,000 away from that goal, but are still accepting cash donations. You can make a contribution through the Christmas Cheer Barrie website.
