City seeking feedback on name for future Allandale transit facility

This hub will host seamless transit services and connections between Simcoe County, Muskoka and the Greater Toronto Area

News release from City of Barrie

The City is asking the public to provide feedback on potential names for the future Allandale Transit Mobility Hub, to be located within Barrie's Allandale area next to the existing railway. Once complete, this hub will host seamless transit services and connections between Simcoe County, Muskoka and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

The City has prepared a shortlist of potential names, which have been prepared according to industry best practices and general principles: a facility name should be “easy” to understand, pronounce and remember, should be “self-locating” (meaning users know the specific area they are in by the name), be “distinctive” as it differentiates from other civic facilities and be “relevant” for the facility’s intended purpose.

The shortlist of potential names for the public to consider includes Allandale Bus Terminal, Allandale Waterfront Bus Terminal and Barrie Allandale Bus Terminal.

The City will use the submitted public feedback to help inform the recommendation for the facility name.

Members of the public are encouraged to share their feedback on a name for the future transit facility in Allandale by completing a survey via BuildingBarrie.ca/MobilityHub.

Residents can learn more about the Allandale Transit Mobility Hub and Downtown Mini Hub project at barrie.ca/TransitHubsProject.
