The Town of Collingwood has reassured residents, workers, and visitors that public transportation remains a priority following the announcement by Ace Cabs of its closure, effective September 30.
In response to the closure, the Town says public transportation will continue to be readily available through various services, including Colltrans, which offers three transit routes (East, West, and Crosstown) within the town. Additionally, the Blue Mountain Link Bus (BLINK) and Simcoe County LINX Transit will remain operational to meet the community's transportation needs. More information about these services can be found on the Town's website.
The Town also addressed concerns about accessible transportation, confirming that Ace Transportation’s Accessible Taxi shuttle service will continue until the end of their contract on March 31, 2025. Furthermore, Collingwood’s TransitPLUS service will continue offering accessible transit options, with rides available for booking seven days a week. The Town is exploring additional options to ensure ongoing accessible transportation solutions in the coming months.
To strengthen Collingwood’s public transportation system, the Town has included funding in the 2024 Municipal Budget for a new Community Transportation Coordinator position. This role will provide leadership for both accessible transit and the on-demand transit program.
Sandy Falcon has been appointed to this new role. Falcon previously worked with the Canadian Red Cross in North Simcoe Muskoka managing accessible transit programs.
