OPP seize cocaine, jewellery worth over $40,000 during drug trafficking investigation in Collingwood

Collingwood drug trafficking

A Toronto man faces drug trafficking charges after OPP say they seized cocaine and jewellery worth over $40,000 in Collingwood and Greater Sudbury.

In January, Collingwood and Huronia West OPP began gathering information on a man "who was attending numerous locations in the Collingwood area and trafficking cocaine," police said in a release.

Then on Monday, OPP placed the man under arrest during a traffic stop in Collingwood.

"Police seized approximately 3 ounces of cocaine, nearly $7,000 in Canadian currency and other items believed to be proceeds of crime, including expensive jewellery," OPP said.

"Collingwood CSCU was further assisted by the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) with the execution of a search warrant in Hanmer, ON, where evidence was seized related to this investigation. The value of all the items seized by police is estimated to be over $40,000."

A 35-year-old has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property obtained by Crime - Over $5000

He is scheduled to appear in Collingwood court in March.
