Contraband seized at Beaver Creek jail, two people including young teen charged

Suspects were walking on an adjacent road when police located them

Provincial police have charged two people after staff discovered a couple of packages on the grounds at the Beaver Creek Correctional facility in Gravenhurst.

The packages which were suspected to contain contraband intended for inside the jail were located early Monday.

Bracebridge OPP conducted patrols of the area and found two people walking on an adjacent road.

Following an investigation, police say they seized many items that are prohibited inside the facility.

A 21-year-old male and a 15-year-old youth, both from Hamilton, have been charged with distribution of dried marijuana, delivering contraband to an inmate, and possession for the purpose of distribution.
