Damage was held to about $5,000 after what Barrie fire officials tell Barrie 360 was a "cooking-related" fire in the kitchen of an apartment unit located at 359 Blake Street by Johnson Street.
Fire crews were called to the six-storey building around 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
A fire official says a neighbour was able to quickly put out the flames.
The work of firefighters was mostly for ventilation as there was extensive smoke in the unit.
There were no injuries.
