Cookstown Man Facing Weapons Charges In Connection to Assault Allegations

Nobody Required Medical Attention

A Cookstown man is facing jailtime after police say he pointed a weapon at a woman.

A report came in Thursday that a 30-year-old woman had been assaulted and threatened on several occasions, while the investigation resulted in a charge of pointing a firearm and uttering threats. A 35-year-old suspect is also charged with several weapons possession-related offenses.

The woman did not require medical attention.

The South Simcoe Police Service says it is important that victims of domestic violence know police will respond to your call and help you get the community resources you need to leave violent and abusive relationships behind.
