COVID-19 numbers remain constant as Ontario enters Step Three of Roadmap to Reopen

Just one new case of COVID reported by the local health unit on Friday

Ontario entered Step Three of the Roadmap to Reopen as of 12:01 a.m. Friday. A few hours later, the province reported just over 150 new cases of COVID-19.

Public Health Ontario said there were 159 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, along with 10 additional deaths and 189 more recoveries.

There were 168,616 vaccines administered across the province yesterday, and 28,126 tests were processed. For the eleventh day in a row, the provincial positivity rate, the number of positive COVID tests among all tests run, remained under one per cent, which indicates the pandemic continues to shrink.

Locally, just one new case of COVID-19 was reported among Simcoe-Muskoka residents. The local health unit said there were another 17 recoveries since yesterday’s update and no new deaths. Just over 66 per cent of Simcoe-Muskoka residents aged 12 and up have gotten their first shot, while over 45 per cent are fully vaccinated.
