CP is passionate about promoting a communal effort to decrease hunger in communities across North America, especially around the holidays. The event is free but visitors are encouraged to bring food or a monetary donation to go to the Barrie Food Bank.
Over the years the Holiday Train has raised more than $14.5 million and 4.3 million pounds of food for North American Food Banks. CP makes donations at every stop and all donations raised by the community stay in the community.
