Mike McCann is no longer facing criminal charges.
“In regards to a minor motor vehicle collision that I was involved in on September 5, 2020, I would like to inform you that all criminal charges have been withdrawn. I am grateful for my family, friends and supporters who have been standing with me during this time. I consider this issue closed and will not be making further comments on this matter,” said McCann in an email to Barrie 360 on Saturday.
Barrie police charged the Ward 10 councillor with impaired driving and over 80 following a collision in the city’s south end on the afternoon of Sept. 5.
A court spokesperson told Barrie 360 late Friday afternoon that McCann’s case was resolved earlier this month.
McCann was first elected to council in 2014.
