A strike has been averted at the County of Simcoe involving members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 5820.

CUPE has confirmed that workers have ratified a 3-year deal which includes a $1.58-per-hour increase in the first year and a three per cent increase in both the second and third years.

CUPE Local 5820 represents children and social service workers at the county as well as those in administrative and support roles.

The deal still requires ratification by the county.

The union expects that to happen next month.
