Saturday is Curbside Giveaway Day in Barrie, which gives residents another opportunity to give unwanted or gently used items a second life in a new home.
This is another initiative by the City of Barrie in its effort to keep unnecessary items out of landfills and to prolong the life of the one in town. Residents can also find items that others are giving away.
The City says this supports a circular economy, and moving towards more sustainable options by reusing items and sharing within the community.

To participate, residents can gather items around their homes that they no longer use, but others might like to have. This includes toys, books, tools, small appliances, etc.
They must be placed at the curb and clearly marked as "free," while the event runs from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Anything that does not find a new home must be taken back in by 9 p.m. as there will be no special municipal collection.
The City is encouraging residents to share their available items by posting on their Facebook event page.
