Cyberattack at Lakehead University affecting campus servers

All computers at both campuses to be shut down

Lakehead University is in the throes of a cyberattack, which the school said is currently being managed by its Technology Services Centre (TSC) team. The attack is affecting the campus servers, and access to the servers has been removed to protect systems and data as much as possible.

The TSC also required all computers on both campuses to be shut down, immediately.

The school told students they should alert their research supervisor or dean if there is a computer that cannot be turned off because of critical research work.

All data and services hosted by Lakehead University servers, including access to website and file share drives, will be inaccessible.

Lakehead said updates will be provided on the university’s mobile safety app.
