Damage pegged at $1.5M following log home fire in Alcona

One person was treated for minor smoke inhalation by paramedics on the scene and transported to the hospital

Innisfil firefighters battled flames and the cold to knock down a fire at a log home in Alcona.

Crews responded to the residence on the 25th Sideroad, south of the 9th Line, around 6:30 Monday morning.

An occupant was able to evacuate and then went back in. The person was treated for minor smoke inhalation by paramedics on the scene and transported to the hospital.

Chief Brent Thomas told Barrie 360 that an engineer will be brought in to determine if any of the logs in the home are compromised. If so, the structure will be a total loss.

The Ontario Fire Marshal was notified because a person required hospital treatment, but the fire is not considered suspicious.
