UPDATE: Deal Nearly Sealed for Collingwood Regional Airport

Council Reaffirms Decision On A Deal To Close At the End of the Month

March 1st

Collingwood Council has reaffirmed its decision to accept the offer of Winterland developments to purchase the Collignwood Regional Airport. Council feel Winterland is able to make the necessary investments to allow the airport to grow and flourish at a level that would not be attainable through municipal ownership. The deal will close at the end of March

January 17th

Real estate investor Winterland Developments says it hopes to complete its purchase of the Collingwood Regional Airport by the end of the month.

“We have an exciting plan to operate and expand the Collingwood Regional Airport for the benefit of the local community, the aviation community and the entire region. Our plan includes infrastructure investments to make the airport viable. This investment will increase direct employment at the airport and be a positive multiplier for the regional economy. We look forward to a long and positive relationship with the community.”

Winterland says it’s also hoping retaining current airport tenants, enhancing their experience and keeping them flying.

The company says it cannot comment any further due to matters before the courts. A nearby flight school had filed suit against the town and Winterland over access to the airport.

Winterland was chosen as the buyer in a multi-stage competitive bid process conducted by the Town of Collingwood.

Winterland is a private real estate investment company operating for over 20 years with holdings in commercial, residential and retail properties across Canada.
