Deal reached to import medical masks from U.S.

Canada may be getting medical masks from the U.S. after all.

CBC reports 3M, with the help of Canadian officials, has been able to strike a deal with the U.S. government to import 166-million masks from its facilities in China.

This will free-up American-made masks that could be shipped to Canada and Latin America.

It’s not clear how quickly this will happen. The imports from China are expected to take place over the next three months.

It’s also not clear how this deal affects exports of other critically needed protection gear such as gowns, gloves and ventilators.
