Debates among Barrie candidates in lead up to federal election

The clock is ticking toward federal election day on April 28 and there is an opportunity for the public to meet the candidates who will be on the ballot in the Barrie-area.

On Tuesday, April 22, candidates from Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte (BSOM) and Barrie South-Innisfil (BSI) will be taking part in debates at Grace United Church, located at 350 Grove St. E. in Barrie.

The event is hosted by Seniors for Climate Action (SCAN), the Simcoe County Greenbelt Coalition, the Simcoe County Health Coalition and the Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP).

The first debate involves BSOM candidates from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m..

There will be a meet-and-greet format from 7 to 7:30 p.m., then the Barrie South - Innisfil candidates will take part in a debate from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Organizers have confirmed that invitations were sent to all registered candidates in the Barrie ridings.

Doors open at 5 p.m.
