Divorce can be a messy, stressful and expensive event in someone's life, so the idea of "Divorce Registries" is slowly catching on.

When people get married or have a child, they create a gift registry so friends and family know what the couple needs to enter the new phase of their lives.

However, an individual will never need to replenish their belongings more than when they literally have to split them.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, Kelly Edwards, a managing partner of Edwards Family Law in London, explained that the idea of a registry has gained some traction in recent years but has yet to fully take off.

"Divorce registries are perfect for people who need an extra boost after a complex divorce. They're a comforting way to offer more than just flowers and to help friends on their new journey," she explains.

Erin Eloise made a video last year explaining that she created a divorce registry because she didn't have many possessions when she split from her relationship.

"It felt selfish and weird, but I realize there has never been a point in my life when I needed something more like this," she said.

In recent years, platforms such as Fresh Starts Registry have been popping up for people starting over. This registry includes all the things to make a home more cozy

So, if you're newly single, there are options to avoid sleeping in an empty apartment drinking from a red solo cup.
