While The Barrie Food Bank can't accept food donations this year, they still need monetary donations in order to help families in need this holiday season.
Since 1984, The Barrie Food Bank has provided temporary food relief to Barrie families and guiding them on their path to self-sufficiency. Their mission is to create a community where no one is hungry. This year, in order to keep everyone safe, they are not asking for food donations but are instead asking for monetary gifts to help stock the shelves.
"Over the past 9 months, we have cancelled our traditional food drives and encouraged the community to make financial contributions. Individuals, businesses, schools, churches and service organizations have overwhelmingly answered the call. The generosity goes far beyond our expectations and allows us to purchase the food needed to keep our shelves stocked and to put food on the tables of over 800 households each month," said Peter Sundborg, Executive Director of The Barrie Food Bank.
