A new community hub aimed at improving access to mental health, substance use, and community support services has officially opened in Orillia.
The Community Connection Hub, operated by Community Connection and funded through Health Canada’s Emergency Treatment Fund, is designed to help reduce harms among vulnerable individuals who use opioids and are experiencing complex mental health and addiction challenges.
Located at 250 West Street North, Unit 11, the Hub offers in-person support through a low-barrier, "no-wrong-door" approach, allowing individuals to access services without appointments or referrals.

The project grew out of opportunities identified by the City of Orillia's Addictions and Overdose Crisis Working Group several years ago. City staff successfully secured grant funding, while Community Connection was selected to lead the development and operation of the Hub on the city's behalf.
According to Community Connection Executive Director Pamela Hillier, the Hub is intended to make accessing support services simpler while strengthening collaboration among local organizations.
The Hub provides a shared workspace where partner organizations can meet with clients, deliver services, and coordinate care in real time. It will also pilot digital tools aimed at improving information sharing and service coordination among participating agencies.
Organizers say the initiative addresses a common challenge within the social services sector: while many organizations provide valuable support, services often operate independently, leaving individuals to navigate multiple systems on their own and repeatedly explain their situation.
The Community Connection Hub was created to help bridge those gaps by bringing organizations together around the needs of the people they serve.
The initiative is the result of a collaborative effort involving Community Connection, the City of Orillia, Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, CMHA Simcoe County, and Health Canada.
