Driver airlifted to Toronto hospital following crash in Tiny Township

First vehicle struck a hydro pole, the second vehicle came into contact with wires on the road

A 24-year-old Midland man suffered serious injuries in a crash in Tiny Township.

OPP received a report of a two-vehicle collision around 10:45 Wednesday night on Balm Beach Road just west of Baseline Road. One of the drivers was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre for further treatment of his injuries.

Police have determined that a vehicle crashed into a hydro pole causing a second vehicle to crash after coming into contact with wires from the pole that was across the road. A section of Balm Beach Road was closed for five hours for the investigation.

Members of the OPP Central Region Technical Traffic Investigation Unit are assisting in the continuing investigation as to the cause of the crash. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has dashcam video is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or  opp.southern.georgian.bay@opp.ca.
