Driver charged in August Fail to Remain in Barrie that left a pedestrian with life-altering injuries

Victim still recovering

A 26-year-old Barrie man has been charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm and Failing to Stop at the Scene of a Collision, related to an incident in a King Street parking lot.

Police say a 46-year-old male was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre with life-altering injuries after being struck and run over. His recovery continues.

Three days after the incident, police discovered a vehicle with damage consistent with the pedestrian collision. It was seized and underwent a forensic examination which police say has linked the vehicle and the driver to the collision.

The accused was arrested Thursday.
