A 63-year-old woman is facing impaired driving and other charges after Barrie police say a pickup truck drove into a driveway, struck a house and ruptured a gas line.
This happened shortly after 7 p.m. on Sunday on Grove Street East.
"Upon arrival of the police, the details were confirmed and a minor evacuation of a few homes in the immediate area was underway," according to a police news release on Monday. "When police spoke to the involved driver, obvious signs of impairment were observed."
The driver was placed under arrest and taken to police headquarters where authorities say she refused to cooperate with the investigation.
The woman was charged with impaired driving, refusing to comply with a demand and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. She has a date in court later this month.
The residents who had to leave their homes because of the gas leak were able to return just after 11 p.m.
The driver's licence of the accused has been suspended for 90-days and her vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
