Ontario Provincial Police have laid a charge in connection with a collision in Orillia that killed a child nearly six months ago.

On January 20, 2024, shortly before 5 p.m., OPP and other first responders were alerted about a two-vehicle collision where three pedestrians were struck on Colborne Street at West Street. As a result of the collision, the pedestrians were transported to hospital where a six-year-old Orillia girl died of her injuries.

Authorities said Tuesday their investigation has concluded and a 68 year old Ramara Township man has been charged with careless driving causing death.

The accused was released on a provincial act summons and is to appear in court at a later date.
