A Sudbury man is facing a long list of charges after a traffic stop by provincial police on Highway 400 in Georgian Bay Township led to the seizure of a firearm.
Police say the vehicle was pulled over Monday afternoon while an officer was investigating a Highway Traffic Act offence.
The motorist was arrested, and police say a search of the vehicle uncovered a firearm.
The 42-year-old suspect was charged with operation while prohibited, driving while under suspension, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, and tampering with a firearm serial number.
The accused was held in custody and is to appear in Bracebridge court on Thursday.
