Driver suffers life-threatening injuries following collision in Orillia

A driver has life-threatening injuries following a collision around 12:30 Thursday afternoon between a car and a commercial truck at Highway 12 and Forest Avenue in Orillia.

According to police, the car driver was extricated from the vehicle by firefighters and airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre.

The driver of the truck was not hurt.

Police have closed Highway 12 between Gill Street and Atherley Road for the investigation.

Authorities request that any witnesses who have not already spoken to police or have dash cam footage of the collision, please call Orillia OPP at 705-326-3536 or at 1-888-310-1122.
