Driver pulls into RIDE check in Grey County with a mountain of empty beer cans

OPP used the incident to explain why police conduct RIDE checks during the day

A 61-year-old motorist is up on a number of charges including impaired after the driver was nabbed at a RIDE check operating during the day in Grey County.

A photo was shared of the vehicle on social media by OPP West Region, noting the driver was pulled over shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

In a tweet, police said, "Sometimes we get asked, 'why do you conduct RIDE programs during the day?' - This is why."

The motorist was charged with impaired driving, eight driving-related suspensions, property obtained by crime, and several Highway Traffic Act charges.
