Driver Using Cellphone at Time of Bradford Crash, Says Police

Barrie woman charged

Distracted driving charges laid after a crash in Bradford.

South Simcoe Police say an SUV was travelling northbound along Barrie St. near Britannia Ave. when it failed to stop for a red light and struck a coupe in the intersection. The impact caused the coupe to strike a fire hydrant.

While no one was hurt, there was significant damage to both vehicles.

Police say a 36-year-old Barrie woman now faces a charge of Careless Driving along with using a handheld device behind the wheel. Officers add she was holding a G1 licence and was unaccompanied.
