Drugs, smokes, cellphones seized on their way into Gravenhurst prison

Police, prison officers seized contraband packages valued at over $105,000

Authorities say they stopped some contraband from getting inside the big house.

Officers with the Bracebridge OPP and Beaver Creek Correctional Institute say they teamed up to seize several packages destined for the Gravenhurst prison. It is alleged these packages contained contraband including numerous drugs and tobacco, as well as cellphones and accessories.

Police peg the value of the items seized at just over $105,000.

The OPP continue their probe into who sent the packages in the first place. No arrests have been made.
