Barrie police are praising members of the public who called about suspicious activity that started downtown on Dunlop Street and continued in the north end of the city until officers were able to stop a vehicle on Rose Street near Highway 400.
Police say they received calls shortly before 9 p.m. on Friday about a vehicle travelling on Dunlop Street with a front seat passenger who was in possession of a knife and was yelling at people, and threatened a pedestrian.
The vehicle was stopped on Rose Street and the driver and three male passengers were arrested and taken to the police station for further investigation.
As a result, the driver and two passengers were released, however, a 19-year-old man who police say was the passenger in the front seat and seen with a knife was charged with weapons dangerous and two drug possession counts - fentanyl and meth. He was released with a court date in May.
