Drunk driving and high miling charges laid by South Simcoe Police in Bradford and Stroud

Trio charged over the course of the weekend

A young Barrie man is among those in hot water with South Simcoe Police’s traffic unit.

The 22-year-old man is accused of being at the wheel of a vehicle that was clocked at being 60km above the posted speed limit, along Yonge St. near Stroud on Friday evening. The young man was charged with speeding and stunt racing, while his license was suspended for seven days.

Just after 10:00 Saturday night, police were contacted about a suspected impaired driver. The suspect vehicle was tracked down in the area of Rutherford Rd. and Langford Blvd. in Bradford, and in speaking to the driver, officers claim they could smell booze on her breath. The 47-year-old Bradford woman was charged after police say her breath tests resulted in readings of twice the legal limit.

Around 2:00 Sunday morning, an officer responded to reports of a crash in a Bradford parking lot. A vehicle had mounted a barrier in the 6th Line and Walker Ave.-area lot. The driver was given a breath test, which police say she failed. A 59-year-old Bradford woman has been charged.
