Looks like we're in for a rainy week in Barrie but that doesn't mean you have to be cooped up inside!
Enjoy A Coffee or Tea
There are several fantastic spots in Barrie to grab a nice cup of your favorite hot beverage. Grab a hot chocolate at Barrie Bean Counter (unfortunately, they won't help with your taxes), an Americano at Casa Cappuccino, or grab a fresh bagel with a coffee at Homestead. There's nothing quite so relaxing as comfortably listening to the pitter patter of rain on a window pane with a nice hot cup in your hand.
See A Movie
.@VancityReynolds may not be the first voice you'd think of for cute, cuddly Pikachu, but leveraging his comedic persona in #DetectivePikachu was a genius choice — here’s why: https://t.co/h8efVPSS03 #PikaPika pic.twitter.com/25SlocNhn3

If you want to avoid the rain altogether, why not grab some popcorn and check out a flick? Don't miss your chance to see Avengers: Endgame in theatres or take the kids to see Detective Pikachu which released on Friday. If you're an action junkie, John Wick Chapter 3 also starts playing on May 17th!
Go To The Mall
When it's raining hard, you're gonna want to seek shelter. Luckily, Barrie is home to 3 indoor malls and each is better than the last. First up, the Kozlov Center is the often forgotten brother of the bigger malls. While it is smaller, it still has plenty of stores to check out with a few staples like Video Time and the Hock Shop. Next is the Bayfield Mall with Sir Games-A-Lot, Sunrise Records, and even a gym with Planet Fitness! Lastly, if you're looking for clothing, jewelry, food, or just about anything else, the Georgian Mall has 2 floors and over 500,000 feet of shopping pleasure.
Head To A Recreation Centre
Just because its raining doesn't mean that sports are off the table! Barrie has a ton of places to stay active (while staying dry). Recreation centers like the YMCA and the Allandale Recreation Centre offer indoor skating and swimming, along with open gyms where you can play basketball, floor hockey, or anything else you might want to try!
Check Out The Barrie Sports Dome
The Barrie Sports Dome has tons of options to keep you occupied and out of the rain. More traditional sports like soccer, golf, and even paintball are available, but where this place really shines is with its non-tradition games. Check out the hilariously fun Bubble Soccer and the oddly competitive Arrow Tag!
Read At The Library
It's cliche, but there is a reason people say it! Curling up with a book on a rainy day is simply wonderful. Head over to the Painswick or Downtown Branch and pick up a new book and while you're there maybe check out one of the countless events they have going on every single day of the week!
With so many things to do in Barrie, rain or shine, you might even start hoping for rain!
