Home Runs for the Hungry - Charity Celebrity Baseball game in support of Barrie Food Bank

Details

Take me out to the ball game!

We are pleased to announce our 2nd annual Home Runs for the Hungry charity baseball event will be held on May 4 at Vintage Throne Stadium at 2 p.m.

This is our signature event of the year and helps to keep our shelves stocked throughout the lean summer months.

This celebrity event mixes Barrie Baycat players, past and present, with top notch athletes from other sports (including the Barrie Colts!), and local celebrities with a passion to reduce hunger in Barrie, in a fun game of 7-inning baseball.

Hosted by Ward 2 Councillor Craig Nixon and Baycats President Josh Matlow, the game will be produced and televised live on Rogers TV.

Ticket prices are $10 each, with kids under 12 free, and can be purchased here:

There will be a 50/50 draw, courtesy of United Way Simcoe Muskoka.  Tickets are $5 ea and can be purchased here:

There will be door prizes, between innings entertainment and even a best costume prize for those who show up in their Star Wars costume. After all, it is on May The Fourth!

Local celebs who will be stepping up to bat and swinging for the fences include:

  • Barrie Colts Shamar Moses, Riley Patterson and Jack Brauti
  • Rock 95 on-air personalities Ben McCully and Bryan Flannery
  • KoolFM on-air personality Matt Miller
  • Gary “Big Daddy" Goodridge - former UFC mixed martial arts camp and Super Heavyweight Boxing Camp of Canada
  • Garvin Lewis - World ranking Arm Wrestling Champion
  • Special Olympics champion athlete Kyle Shuttleworth
  • CTV Barrie personalities KC Colby, Sarah Freemark and Dana Roberts
  • Mayor Alex Nutall and his pinch hitter Rob Thomson
  • Deputy Chief of Police Rob Burke
  • Barrie’s own Poet Laurette Ty Thomas
  • a ton of city councillors, MP's and MPP's like Craig Nixon, Sergio Morales, Ann-Marie Kungl, Hon. Andrea Khanjin, Hon John Brassard
  • local singer Kat Chabot with the Simcoe Youth Choir will be singing the anthem
  • and more being announced daily!

But wait, that’s not all!  The first 500 attendees get a gift certificate for a free Chick-Fil-A sandwich!

Attendees are also encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to help us restock our shelves for the spring & summer.

Don't miss out! See you out all at the ol' ball game!

Rainout Policy: We will try our best to get the game in on May 4th. However, if we experience inclement weather and have to postpone the event that day, our official rainout replacement date will be Sunday, May 5th at 2 pm.
