With winter fully underway, Friday Harbour is giving locals a new reason to get outside and enjoy the season.
Beginning January 16, Skate Escape returns to the resort’s Piazza, transforming the waterfront into a lively outdoor skating destination through March 22. The full-sized rink is illuminated by twinkling canopy lights and surrounded by warming lounges, seasonal food and drink offerings, and a walkable village atmosphere, making it an easy and festive winter outing for residents of Barrie, Innisfil, and the surrounding Simcoe County area.
Designed with families and day-trippers in mind, Skate Escape doesn’t require pre-booking and is open Thursdays through Sundays, weather permitting. Beyond skating, visitors can enjoy winter recreation rentals like snowshoes, fat bikes, and kicksleds, cozy up with hot chocolate and après-skate bites, or explore shopping and dining along the Promenade.
With its lakeside setting on Lake Simcoe and a mix of outdoor and indoor activities, Skate Escape offers a simple way for locals to embrace winter close to home—whether for an afternoon outing or a weekend visit.
