An investigation is underway following an explosion and fire in a large electrical panel at the Kubota plant in Orillia.

"Three workers were taken to hospital," according to Deputy Fire Chief Chris Ferry, in an email to Barrie 360.

Their conditions are unknown.

The blast resulted in the company cancelling the Thursday afternoon shift.

Ferry added that the incident is being investigated by the Ontario Fire Marshal, the provincial Ministry of Labour and the OPP.
