Provincial police have charged a 28-year-old woman of no fixed address with arson and failing to comply with a probation order following a fire at a home in Orillia.

First responders were alerted around 7 a.m. Friday about the fire at 136 Barrie Road east of Memorial Avenue.

Police say Orillia Fire Service determined the fire had been deliberately set in the hallway outside a door.

Fire Chief Chris Ferry told Barrie 360 that two occupants of the home were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Investigators said through witness statements they identified a suspect and that person was taken into custody on Friday afternoon.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
