Firearm, property crime charges as OPP in Gravenhurst recover stolen vehicle

OPP upgrade charges after driver dies of injuries in Highway 12 crash near Gambridge

A suspect is facing a long list of charges after Bracebridge OPP say a pickup truck driver drove past their cruiser at a high rate of speed on Monday afternoon.

The truck was later found on Caroline Street in Gravenhurst.

The pickup was unoccupied except for a puppy that was abandoned when the occupants fled on foot.

OPP determined the truck had been stolen from the West Elgin area.

Police have charged a 23-year-old man from London man with the following:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle - CC 333.1
  • Possession of Prohibited device for Dangerous Purpose CC 88 - x2
  • Carrying Concealed weapon - CC 90
  • Carrying Concealed Prohibited Device or Ammunition - CC 90
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm - CC 91(1)
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm - CC 92(1)
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was Firearm - CC 94
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon - CC 9
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking - CDSA 5(2) x 4
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 CC 354(1)(a) - x 9
