First meet for Barrie’s Latest Council
Barrie's 2018-2022 Council Sworn In During Monday Evening Ceremony
Now they’ve been elected, it’s time to get to work.
Monday night marked the inaugural meeting of the 2018-2022 City Council, complete with bagpipes, ceremony, and swearing-in.
The night began with Jeff Lehman taking the oath for his third term of office, followed by all ten councillors.
Six new councillors were sworn in Monday night, along with four veterans.

Messages of greetings and congratulations came from not only the nearby Base Borden, but also spiritual leaders from within the city, and representatives of local First Nations communities.
As part of his inaugural address, Mayor Lehman remembered the City of Barrie’s first Mayor, Willard Kinzie, whose funeral service was held earlier Monday afternoon.
