Focus shifts again in search for BC fugitives

500 people live in the community of York Landing, Manitoba.

There may be just as many police and soldiers there this morning after a resident spotted two men matching the description of the fugitives from British Columbia.

A man said he saw two tall slender men moving quickly near the landfill and water treatment plant. He thinks they may have been spooked by the sound of his truck approaching. A half-hour later Mounties and the military started arriving in the area.

York Landing is about 100 kilometres southwest of Gillam, where the search had been focussed late last week. It is only accessible by ferry and aircraft.

Residents have been urged to park their vehicles and stay indoors with their doors locked.
