Several hundred thousand dollars in stolen construction equipment has been recovered, and now four people are facing a slew of charges.
Around 4:30 on the afternoon of Sunday, November 24th, an officer on patrol noticed a pickup truck pulling a trailer that looked to contain an insecure skid steer, on the 10th Sideroad of Innisfil. The officer tried to pull the vehicle over but claim the suspect vehicle sped off at speeds of 133km/h in an 80 zone.
Once the vehicle was eventually stopped, it was determined the skid steer and the trailer were stolen. The driver and passenger were arrested, while investigation led to the apprehension of two other suspects.
The company from which the equipment was stolen was not even aware of the theft, but investigators probed deeper and discovered the suspects had either stolen or attempted to steal some $500,000 in property from the company.
All told, the two Innisfil men aged 23 and 25, and the Barrie men aged 21 and 23 face a combined 50 charges.
