Two people face a total of 15 charges in connection with a fraud investigation in New Tecumseth involving a pair of high-vintage vehicles
Provincial police say they began their investigation last June after officers were called to a residence on Highway 9 in which a person reported the ownership of two vintage vehicles over $500,000 had been fraudulently registered in someone else's name.
Police say vehicle keys were missing from the complainant's home.
Last week, on Jan. 30, search warrants were executed and two men, a 30-year-old from Vaughan and a 25-year-old from Tottenham, were arrested.
Police say they recovered key fobs, ownerships, 11 long guns, cocaine, a 2012 Cherolet Silverado, a 2010 Mercedes Benz, ammunition, knives, five sets of vehicle keys, a large sum of money and other items.
The accused from Vaughan was charged with the following:
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the Purpose of Trafficking(cocaine)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.00
- Fraud over $5000.00 - Two Counts
- Use, deals, Acts on Forged documents- Two Counts
- Failing to comply with release order- Three Counts
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000.00
- Resist Peace Officer
The suspect was held for a bail hearing on Friday.
The other accused was charged with the following:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000 - in Canada
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
- Trafficking in Schedule I substance- Cocaine
He has been released with a court date for later this month.
