With Christmas break comes a lot of free time for your kids, thankfully both the Downtown and Painswick Branch of the Barrie Public Library have tons of activities for your little ones to enjoy and they are completely free. Here are all the events they can participate in leading up to Christmas Eve.
I Spy Holiday Edition (Downtown & Painswick)
Kids will help find clues, spot elves, reindeer, and snowflakes, and help solve a holiday mystery. Suitable for school-aged kids and kids under 5.

Holiday Crafts (Downtown & Painswick)
Kids can craft homemade and unique gifts for loved ones at the crafting table. Suitable for school-aged kids.
December 21st to 23rd - All Day
Solstice Storytime (Downtown)
Joined by Elder Ernestine Baldwin, kids will join in Indigenous stories, songs, and rhymes celebrating the Winter Solstice. Suitable for school-aged kids.
December 21st - 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM
Ready, Set, Read! (Downtown)
Use the Christmas break to help your kids improve their literacy skills. They will get help from a staff member with reading and to play literacy games. Suitable for school-aged kids.
December 21st - 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Checkmates - Junoir Chess Meetup (Downtown)
If you have a little chess wizard or if they are interested in learning, they can sharpen their strategy and have some fun at this event. Suitable for teens and school-aged kids.
December 22nd - 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
