Ice storm - March, 2025

The deadline for Simcoe County residents that were affected by the ice storm in March to submit requests for curbside brush collection is Friday, May 23. Residents across the county (outside of the highly impacted areas) can submit requests for brush pickup from specific addresses.

It is important that residents place all brush material curbside immediately to ensure collection as timing of collection may vary; however, materials will be collected. After the final curbside collection takes place, all material must be prepared as per regular leaf and yard waste collection requirements.

*Who should request collection

  • Use this interactive map to check if your address falls into one of the highly impacted areas in Ramara, Oro-Medonte and Severn to determine whether you should submit a request or not.
  • Residents located outside of Ramara, Oro-Medonte and Severn are asked to submit a request by May 23 to ensure collection.
  • Residents located within one of the highly impacted areas DO NOT need to make a request. Crews will return to these hardest hit areas automatically for one final collection after May 19. Over the past month, crews have been prioritizing these communities through continued brush collection.

How to request collection

  • Web Portal: Submit a request through this web portal.
  • Phone: Call the Service Simcoe Contact Centre by phone at 705-735-6901 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Email: Send a request to service@simcoe.ca.

How to place brush for collection

  • Bundling of brush is notrequired, but it’s preferred as it will help crews work faster to provide more efficient service.
  • If possible, sort your debris into larger and smaller brush piles.
  • All municipalities, including those in the severely impacted areas and those that make requests, must have their brush placed curbside no later than Monday, May 19 to ensure collection.

The county has also waived brush drop-off fees at all county waste facilities until the end of June. Dropping off brush at a waste facility is the fastest way for residents to clear debris off their property. For all waste location details and hours, please click here.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue working to clean up our communities.
