Georgian College mechanical engineering student brings Gold home from Skills Competition

High fives for Georgian College mechanical engineering student Mark Reckzin.

He won a gold medal in the CAD category at the recent Skills Canada competition in Halifax.

“The competition was a fun experience and I had the opportunity to meet a number of people in my field. “It was such a thrill to win and I’m happy to know that hard work and practice pays off.”

Reckzin said that while there weren’t as many competitors as when he competed in the provincial Skills competition held in May, the competition was fierce and featured the best from across the country.

His coach, Tanveer Sayad, said Mark is meticulous, focused and has a great career ahead of him adding he’s a model student and a joy to have in the classroom and program.

He formally graduates this fall but plans to continue his studies, completing his degree in mechanical engineering and eventually acquire his P.Eng.
