The Huntsville Sting u11 Black hockey team hopes to make a big impact in their community by participating in the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup. Their mission? To perform as many good deeds as possible while also raising awareness and support for a local hospital.
However, rather than collecting direct donations, they are documenting their good deeds and submitting them to Chevrolet for consideration. Each member of the team is actively participating, performing acts of kindness such as shoveling driveways, holding doors open, picking up litter, and even making homemade dog treats. They’ve also posted kindness posters throughout the community.
Beyond their own efforts, the team is encouraging others to get involved. Community members can record themselves performing good deeds and send their videos to the team at HuntsvilleU11@gmail.com. These submissions will then be counted towards the team’s total impact, increasing their chances of winning the Good Deeds Cup.
The initiative has already gained significant traction, with around 500 good deeds recorded.
The idea for this initiative came from one of the team members’ mothers, and the team has until March 6 to complete their efforts and submit everything for review. They are currently in second place in the competition.
If they can win, the $100,000 Good Deeds Cup cash will be donated to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation.
While the players are focussing on giving back, they’re also excelling on the ice. The team has only lost one game this season, proving they are just as strong in competition as they are in their commitment to kindness.
With their enthusiasm and determination, this team is proving that even small acts of kindness can lead to a big impact.
