Gravenhurst’s fire chief is riding off into the sunset come the new year.
Chief Larry Brassard has announced he will retire after a lifetime of protecting his community, eight years of which as chief of Gravenhurst Fire Service.
“I want to thank Chief Brassard for his immense dedication, passion and commitment to serving the people of Gravenhurst. We have been very fortunate to have such a knowledgeable, highly respected leader with the utmost integrity, guiding our Fire Department and the men and woman who risk their lives everyday selflessly,” said Gravenhurst Mayor Paul Kelly. “Chief Brassard has instilled his love, passion and duty into those who wear the uniform proudly and we are grateful for everything he has done.”
Brassard’s last day on the job will be January 15. The search for a new fire chief following the holiday season while Deputy Fire Chief Todd Clapp will mind the store after Brassard’s departure.
