Loaded gun, drugs seized during Barrie police traffic stop

Vehicle stopped due to possible driver suspension

Three people are facing weapons, drug and other criminal charges after Barrie police stopped a vehicle in the city’s south end on Saturday afternoon.

Officers pulled over the car on Bryne Drive after receiving information the owner was driving while under suspension.

As the officer approached the driver’s side door, police say the motorist opened the door and a white substance believed to be cocaine was spotted.

The driver and two passengers were arrested.

Police say a search of the vehicle turned up what is believed to be cocaine and fentanyl. They say a loaded semi-automatic gun was also found in the car.

Charged is a 24-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, both of no fixed address from Barrie, along with a 22-year-old from Guelph.
