Barrie police say they conducted a "high-risk vehicle stop" in a northeast plaza parking lot and executed a search warrant at a home in the city's north end on Wednesday that resulted in the seizure of several firearms and ammunition.
Of the three guns recovered by police, investigators say two of the weapons were stolen during a violent home robbery that happened on Jan. 2.
"Four Barrie residents, three males and one female, all of no fixed address, have been arrested and are facing firearms, property and other Criminal Code charges which include failing to comply with probation, undertakings and other court related matters," police stated in a media release on Friday.
Two of the men had a bail hearing and were remanded in custody. The other suspects are scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 21.
Police add that the investigation remains ongoing and no further details will be released at this time.
